Celebrating National Tiger Day: Why KANHA Chose the Tiger as our Guide

On July 29th, we celebrate the tiger. National Tiger Day started back in 2010 after the Tiger Summit in Saint Petersburg, where representatives from 13 countries came together and committed to the Tx2 goal, aiming to double the global tiger population.

Now, National Tiger Day is used to raise awareness and support for tiger conservation and habitat preservation, protecting the species and the places they call home. So naturally, it felt like the right day to share why KANHA chose the tiger as the face of our brand.

The Meaning Behind KANHA

Rooted in Indian mythology, the name KANHA embodies joy, love, and divine bliss, inspiring a youthful and adventurous spirit. It’s a name that carries meaning far beyond a logo, and interestingly, it also happens to share its name with the Kanha Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, India, one of the country’s largest and most storied tiger habitats, spread across nearly 363 square miles.

The tiger was never just a logo to us. At KANHA, the tiger is our guide, a symbol of strength and resilience that leads us and our community on the journey to wellness. On the tiger’s forehead is a cannabis leaf, which serves as the tiger’s third eye, representing awareness, clarity, and intuition. Even the tiger’s stripes carry meaning: they reflect our own journey, a reminder that no two paths are the same, each one unique and powerful.

That’s the kind of strength and protection we wanted at the center of who we are. That’s why we say “Follow the Tiger”, it’s more than a tagline, it’s an invitation to move through the world with that same strength, clarity, and intention.

The Same Care, In Every Batch

That same awareness and intention the tiger represents shows up in the KANHA Clean Pledge. We don’t just test the finished product, we test everything: the soil, the water, the flower, and the oil, using Category 4 testing standards, the most rigorous pesticide screening available in the cannabis industry, detecting over 380 different pesticides. The results? Non-detect across the board. Every batch, every time.

That same standard shows up in how we make our rosin. Our Rosin Sours and Rosin Belts start with 100% solventless live rosin, extracted using nothing but ice water and pressure. It’s a slower, more deliberate process, but it’s what makes KANHA some of the cleanest, strongest gummies on the market. Read more about our story and commitment to quality here

Tigers Today, and How You Can Help

Since the Tx2 goal was set back in 2010, aiming to double the global wild tiger population, real progress has been made, but the work is not finished. Less than 4,500 wild tigers survive today, spread across dozens of fragmented habitats worldwide.

Organizations like WWF, Panthera, and the Global Tiger Forum have spent years working to protect the species and the habitats they depend on, through conservation programs, research, and community partnerships in tiger range countries.

At KANHA, the tiger has always been our guide, in our name, in our values, and in the standard behind everything we make. That’s why days like today matter to us, not just as a celebration, but as a reminder of what the tiger still represents, both in the wild and in every product we make.
